An exposed brick wall runs the length of this Lapa suite, behind a gray sofa and a dining nook with mustard chairs. The bedroom holds two beds, and the bathroom has a pedestal sink and a clawfoot tub. A separate kitchen comes with a stovetop, an oven and a full set of pans and plates. Air conditioning is fitted in both rooms, and your dog or cat is welcome to come along. The Lapa arches, the Sunday street market and a row of live-music bars are all within four blocks.

Neighborhood highlights
Lapa is loud, and nobody who books here should expect otherwise. The white arches at its center become a meeting point after dark, and the surrounding blocks fill with samba spilling out of open doors on Friday and Saturday. Daytime is a different neighborhood entirely: quiet corners, antique dealers and workers eating lunch at counters. The tiled staircase climbing toward the hill above is a five-minute walk from most doorsteps.
