This is a private room in a quiet Urca house, a few steps from the cable car station. You get a bed with white linens, a wooden nightstand, a round table by the window and your own full bathroom. The room comes without a kitchen, so most guests eat at the seafood counters along the seawall two minutes away. Air conditioning, a TV and steady Wi-Fi are all included, and the street stays quiet after dark.

Rafael is a kind and attentive host, and Urca is a peaceful corner of Rio with the cable car right around the corner.

The room is small and the shared bathroom sometimes had a wait, but the bed was comfortable and the location is wonderful.

Great value for a night near Sugarloaf. Morning walks along the Urca waterfront were the highlight of our trip.

Great little room in Urca for a short trip. Check-in was simple, though nobody told us the front gate closes at eleven.

Rafael picked a great spot — the room is close enough to walk everywhere in Urca but far enough from the traffic to sleep well.

Lovely host. Rafael greeted us at the room, walked us through everything, and then left us to it.

Neighborhood highlights

Urca feels like a village that got left inside a city of six million people. The seawall is the whole social life: neighbors sit on it at dusk with cold drinks while fishermen work the same stretch of water. Sugarloaf rises directly overhead, and the trail up starts a few streets away. There is almost no through traffic, so guests hear the water more often than they hear cars.
