Neighborhood highlights
Bonfim is a working neighborhood on the eastern slope, all granite houses, corner taverns and small squares with benches under the trees. It has changed fast in recent years without losing the older residents who still bring chairs outside in the evening. Prices are lower than downtown and the walk in takes about fifteen minutes, mostly downhill on the way there. Guests get an ordinary weekday version of the city rather than a curated one.
