Neighborhood highlights
San Rafael is an old and slightly faded neighborhood of tall doorways, ironwork balconies and theaters that have been staging shows for a century. It was the fashionable address a hundred years ago and never lost the architecture that came with it. Rents are lower here than in the neighborhoods on either side, and the streets stay residential and unhurried. A park full of painters selling canvases on Sundays sits at the northern edge.
