This Chiado studio is one bright room with a window that looks out over the city rooftops. An armchair and a wooden sideboard sit on a herringbone floor, and the bed is set against the far wall. The small kitchen has a stovetop, a kettle and a fern on the counter, and the bathroom is a full one. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi are both included in the nightly rate. The old theater, the metro and half a dozen coffee shops are within two minutes of the door.

Neighborhood highlights
Chiado is where the city goes to be seen, in the good sense: old bookstores, marble cafe counters and theaters within a block of each other. The sidewalks slope, so almost every street ends in a view of the river or the castle on the far hill. Shops open late in the morning and stay open through the evening, and the square at the top fills with people waiting to meet somebody. Once the shutters come down it is far quieter than it looks at noon.
