Inês's apartment sits on a quiet Alfama lane where fado drifts up from the tavern below in the evenings. Absolutely magical.

This Alfama apartment sits partway up a tiled stepped lane, with a white armchair by the window and a herringbone floor throughout. The bedroom holds two beds with navy cushions and three framed prints above the headboard. A full kitchen with an oven, a stovetop and a washing machine takes up the back of the flat, and the single bathroom is bright and tiled. Air conditioning helps on warm afternoons, and the terrace two doors up looks over terracotta rooftops to the river. The cathedral, the tram stop and a handful of family-run restaurants are all within three minutes on foot.

Freshly renovated, spotless and flooded with light from the herringbone-floored living room. The rooftop views over the river are stunning.
Inês left pastries and a bottle of wine for our arrival and her walking directions saved us on the steep streets.
The bedroom is quiet and cool, the shower is strong, and Alfama's viewpoints are a two-minute climb away.
The Alfama apartment is clean and the host is kind. The bedroom window does not block much street noise on a Friday.
Inês was a wonderful host — quick to answer, full of recommendations, and genuinely welcoming from the first message.
Lisbon, Portugal
The exact location is shared after your reservation is confirmed.
Alfama is the oldest part of the city and the least straightened out, so lanes twist, stairs appear where a street should be, and laundry hangs across the gaps. Guests learn to navigate by the sound of the trams grinding uphill and by the smell of grilled sardines from front rooms turned into restaurants. Fado houses open after dark, and the singing carries surprisingly far through open windows. The lookout terraces at the top are worth the climb every single evening.
