An industrial roof rises over the gray sofas on the lower floor of this Gotic duplex. Two bedrooms hold three beds upstairs, one with a black feature wall, and both bathrooms are full ones. The dining room sits under two pendant lamps beside a kitchen with an oven, a stovetop and a washing machine. Air conditioning and a TV are fitted in the living room, and the Wi-Fi is quick. The lantern-lit alley outside leads to the cathedral square, the port and the main promenade within five minutes.

Neighborhood highlights
The Gòtic is stone on all sides: alleys barely wide enough for two people, Roman wall fragments built into apartment buildings and a cathedral that appears without warning. It holds the highest concentration of history in the city and the highest concentration of visitors with it. Early morning is the time to walk it, before the tour groups and while shopkeepers are still hosing the pavement. Squares that feel jammed at noon are empty and echoing by midnight.
