This Poble-sec house sits among tall trees on the slope below the castle hill. Four bedrooms hold five beds, and each of the three bathrooms comes with a hair dryer. The dining room has white upholstered chairs with a fireplace beyond, and the kitchen next door has an oven, a stovetop and a washing machine in the pantry. Poble-sec sits at the foot of the hill, so half its streets run uphill into gardens and the other half run down into the city. One short pedestrian street is lined end to end with small bars serving skewers, and it fills every evening with a mostly local crowd. Above it, paths climb through terraces and pools toward the castle at the top, a thirty-minute walk or a quick funicular ride. Rooms here cost noticeably less than a comparable place ten minutes north.
